Episode 51: Perfect Preparation

What happens

Maki comes home. Naoya reminds her that she cannot see curses, cannot use cursed energy and now has the scars as well, and asks whether the plan is to hang off Yuta and Megumi. She walks past him without answering.

Megumi took the clan head position because Maki talked him into it. His argument was that she should have it. Hers was that nobody in the clan would ever follow her, and that she has not made a place for Mai yet.

What she does not know is that Jinichi and Naoya have already settled the next move. With Gojo sealed and named a criminal, anyone working to free him is a traitor, so Megumi, Maki and Mai can all be killed on the pretext of plotting exactly that. Ogi proposed it.

He is waiting in the emptied vault with Mai bleeding on the floor beside him. Maki asks why Naobito was made head instead of him, and answers it herself: because Ogi will kill his own children.

He breaks her sword deliberately so that she misreads his reach, then extends the broken blade with cursed energy and opens her from eye to torso.
