Fearsome Womb
Yuji Itadori's life changes the night he swallows one of Sukuna's fingers. What starts as an athletic teenager helping his occult club friends turns into a death sentence. Sukuna awakens inside him, and jujutsu society decides Yuji should be executed. Gojo intervenes, enrolling Yuji at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki.
Their first real mission sends all three into a detention center overrun by curses, where Sukuna briefly takes control and rips out Yuji's heart to test his new vessel. Yuji dies, then Sukuna revives him, because a dead vessel is useless. The experience establishes the fundamental tension of the series: Yuji is living on borrowed time inside a body that belongs to something ancient and malevolent.

Vs. Mahito
Yuji and Nanami investigate a series of disfigured bodies, leading them to Mahito: a cursed spirit who can reshape souls through touch. The arc introduces the series' most personal villain through Junpei Yoshino, a bullied student Mahito manipulates into becoming a curse user.
Mahito befriends Junpei, helps him take revenge on his tormentors, then transfigures him in front of Yuji once the boy is no longer useful. Yuji begs Sukuna to save Junpei. Sukuna laughs. Junpei dies as a twisted monster while Yuji watches helplessly.
The encounter with Mahito also reveals the one thing the cursed spirit fears: Yuji can damage Mahito's soul directly, making him the natural counter to Idle Transfiguration. Their rivalry becomes the emotional spine of the series.

Goodwill Event
Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High hold their annual exchange event: a team competition that's part sporting event, part political chess match. The Kyoto team is secretly ordered to assassinate Yuji during the event, since the higher-ups want Sukuna's vessel eliminated.
The event introduces Aoi Todo, who decides Yuji is his best friend within minutes of meeting him and proceeds to train him mid-battle. Todo's Boogie Woogie and Yuji's raw physicality combine into a devastating partnership when Hanami: a special grade cursed spirit, attacks the event.
The Hanami fight is where Yuji lands his first Black Flash and Todo demonstrates why a simple clap can be one of the most powerful abilities in jujutsu. Meanwhile, Maki, Panda, and Inumaki hold off Hanami's assault while Gojo is deliberately delayed by a screen barrier.

Geto is alive, but his body is being used by someone else (later revealed as Kenjaku)

Death Painting
Yuji and Nobara face Eso and Kechizu: two of the nine Death Painting Wombs, half-human half-cursed spirit hybrids. The brothers' Rot Technique splashes poisonous blood on both sorcerers, starting a ticking clock of decomposition.
Nobara's response is one of the series' defining character moments: she drives nails into her own rotting flesh and uses Resonance to transmit the damage back through the blood connection, hurting both brothers simultaneously. She weaponizes her own wounds, accepting the pain to win.
The arc establishes Nobara as someone willing to destroy herself if it means destroying the enemy harder. Nanami later rates her as having genuine grade 1 potential, high praise from the most measured sorcerer in the organization.

Gojo's Past
A flashback to Gojo and Geto's second year at Jujutsu High, when they were assigned to escort Riko Amanai: the Star Plasma Vessel meant to merge with Tengen. The mission goes catastrophically wrong when Toji Fushiguro, the Sorcerer Killer, accepts a contract to assassinate Riko.
Toji kills Riko moments before the merger and defeats Gojo by exploiting the young sorcerer's overconfidence. Gojo dies, then revives through reverse cursed technique, unlocking Red and combining it with Blue to create Purple. He kills Toji with the technique that shouldn't exist.
The mission's fallout breaks Geto. Watching non-sorcerers celebrate Riko's death pushes him toward the ideology that will eventually make him a mass murderer. The arc ends with the two strongest students at Jujutsu High walking in opposite directions: one toward protecting the world, the other toward destroying half of it.

Shibuya Incident
Kenjaku's masterpiece. The entire district of Shibuya is transformed into a trap designed to separate Gojo from his allies and seal him inside the Prison Realm. It works.
Gojo enters Shibuya and dominates, clearing waves of transfigured humans, expanding Unlimited Void in a crowd while threading it precisely enough to avoid killing civilians, and fighting multiple special grade spirits simultaneously. Then Kenjaku reveals Geto's body, and Gojo hesitates for 0.2 seconds. The Prison Realm activates. The strongest sorcerer is removed from the board.
With Gojo sealed, Shibuya becomes a massacre. Nanami fights through waves of enemies until Jogo's flames leave him critically burned, then Mahito transfigures him in front of Yuji. Nobara is hit by Idle Transfiguration to the face. Toji's resurrected body kills Dagon inside his own domain. Sukuna takes control of Yuji and destroys a section of the city fighting Mahoraga.
The night ends with Yuji broken, Gojo sealed, Nanami dead, Nobara's fate unknown, and Mahito absorbed by Kenjaku through Uzumaki. Every sorcerer who walked into Shibuya came out diminished.

The Culling Game is Kenjaku's plan to merge humanity with Tengen, creating a new form of cursed energy

Culling Game
Kenjaku's endgame begins. The Culling Game is a battle royale across multiple colonies in Japan, designed to generate the cursed energy needed for Kenjaku's plan to merge Tengen with humanity. Incarnated ancient sorcerers, modern fighters, and civilians with awakened cursed techniques are all thrown together under lethal rules.
Yuji recruits allies: Hakari (whose Idle Death Gamble grants functional immortality through gambling), Higuruma (whose courtroom domain nearly sentences Sukuna to death), and eventually Yuta. The game forces Megumi to fight Reggie Star in a tactical chess match that ends with Chimera Shadow Garden swallowing a building.
Mai Zenin sacrifices her life to forge Maki a weapon through Construction, triggering Maki's Heavenly Restriction. Maki destroys the Zenin clan. Yuki Tsukumo fights Kenjaku and creates a black hole trying to kill them both. Kashimo waits centuries for the chance to fight Sukuna.
The arc culminates in the sorcerer coalition's final assault on Sukuna, who has taken Megumi's body as his permanent vessel. Gojo is freed from the Prison Realm. The stage is set for the final battle.
