Mahito is the series' most personal antagonist. He killed Junpei, transfigured Nanami, struck Nobara, and tormented Yuji psychologically throughout their encounters. Every atrocity served his goal of pushing Yuji into despair while Mahito himself grew stronger through the conflict.
His own death was appropriately ironic, cornered by the boy he'd spent the whole series trying to break, then absorbed by

Each body grants him access to that person's innate technique w... through Uzumaki. The cursed spirit of human malice became fuel for a plan to reshape humanity itself.

Known techniques
Technique
Body Repel
撥体
Mahito's Idle Transfiguration doesn't just work on other people. He can reshape himself at will, turning his own body into whatever the fight demands. Extra arms, blade-like appendages, elastic limbs, hardened sections to absorb impacts: the only limit is Mahito's imagination, and he has plenty. This makes fighting Mahito feel fundamentally unfair. Cut off his arm? He grows a new one shaped like an axe. Land a body blow? That section of his torso goes soft and absorbs the impact. He can split into pieces that move independently, flatten himself to dodge, or inflate his fists to hit harder. Traditional damage simply doesn't stick because he rearranges whatever you broke. The one vulnerability: attacks that target his soul directly bypass all the physical restructuring. This is why Yuji Itadori, who instinctively strikes at the soul level, was the only fighter who could consistently hurt Mahito through Body Repel.
Technique
Idle Transfiguration
無為転変
Mahito's innate technique. He reshapes a soul by touching it, and because the body follows the shape of the soul, the body changes with it. On himself it is a defence nothing physical can beat; on anyone else it is the cruellest thing in the series.
Technique
Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing
遍殺即霊体
Mahito's final form. By applying Idle Transfiguration to himself with full commitment, he reshapes his body into the optimal combat configuration, faster, stronger, more durable, with every limb weaponized. His arms extend as bladed whips, his body splits and reforms at will, and every point of contact carries the soul-altering touch of Idle Transfiguration. It's what Mahito looks like when he stops playing human and becomes what a cursed spirit of human malice was always meant to be.
Technique
Polymorphic Soul Isomer
幾魂異性体
Mahito splits off fragments of his soul into independent clones. Each one is a real piece of Mahito, smaller and weaker than the original, but carrying the same Idle Transfiguration touch. One finger from a clone is just as lethal as a touch from the real Mahito. The clones can operate independently across different locations, forcing opponents to split their response teams. A single Mahito is already a crisis. Multiple Mahitos appearing across a city is a catastrophe.
Technique
Self-Embodiment of Perfection
自閉円頓裹
Inside Mahito's domain, Idle Transfiguration is guaranteed to hit. That's the whole story. The domain traps the target in an enclosed space, and the sure-hit effect applies soul manipulation directly, no touching required, no defense possible, no counter available for anyone who can't directly protect their soul. For most targets, entering this domain is an automatic death sentence. Idle Transfiguration reshapes souls on contact, and the domain guarantees contact. The only thing that saved anyone from guaranteed soul manipulation was Yuji Itadori's presence: his ability to perceive and anchor his own soul gave him resistance that no other character possessed.
Technique
Soul Multiplicity
多重魂
Mahito merges multiple transfigured humans into composite bodies: one entity made from several souls welded together. The merged creations are larger, stronger, and more durable than individual transfigured humans, with extra limbs, increased mass, and amplified cursed energy from the combined souls. The composites serve as expendable heavy infantry. They hit harder than normal transfigured humans and absorb more damage before falling apart. From Mahito's perspective, they're just resource management, combining weak units into fewer, stronger units.
