What happens

Mai told Miwa that her sister was a permanent grade four with nothing behind her, so Miwa goes into the fight relaxed and comes out of it in a stream. Maki reads the swordsmanship, snaps her own spear in half to throw the useless end as a distraction, walks Miwa out of her Simple Domain and takes the katana off her. Watching through a crow, Mei MeiMei MeiGrade 1 · HumanA grade 1 sorcerer who will do anything for the right fee and is entirely upfront about that being the arrangement. She controls crows, fights with an axe, and is one of the few ad... says Maki should be promoted on the spot. Gojo says the Zenin clan will never allow it.

Momo has the air, a broom and an argument. Female sorcerers get less, Mai is buckling under the Zenin family, and Nobara ought to have some sympathy about it. Nobara does not. Misfortune is not a licence, Maki grew up in the same house, and the person they have all agreed to treat as a curse is a boy. HairpinHairpinExtension TechniqueNobara drives a cursed-energy-loaded nail into a target with her hammer. On impact, the nail releases a burst of cursed energy that does damage beyond the physical puncture. Each h... detonates every nail she has missed, ResonanceResonanceExtension TechniqueVoodoo at its most literal. Nobara drives a nail through a straw doll containing a piece of the target, blood, hair, anything organic, and the damage transfers directly to the targ... takes the broom out from under Momo, and then Mai puts a rubber bullet through Nobara's temple from cover.

Maki finds Mai in the trees. Mai has been holding one thing back, an innate technique called ConstructionConstructionInnate TechniqueOne object. One lifetime. That's the deal. Construction lets the user build a single real, permanent, physical object from cursed energy, but creating it burns every drop of cursed... that makes something out of nothing and costs so much she gets one bullet a day. Maki catches it barehanded. The real argument is older than any of this: Maki left the clan promising to come back for her, and Mai has decided that makes her a liar.
